Corruption hampers development, diverting public resources from those who need them most. Timor-Leste has a window of opportunity to ensure that corruption does not take root. The Bank is helping the Government identify risk areas for corruption and poor governance and address emerging problems. It supports the offices of the Inspector General and the Ombudsman, two key Timorese institutions in combating poor governance.
