Efforts to strengthen economies, prevent poverty and improve the quality of life can only be successful if attention is paid to education. In Albania, World Bank projects have helped rehabilitate some 200 schools and build 25 schools. Curricula have been modernized to equip young people to meet the challenges of the future. World Bank assistance has also helped introduce a new scheme to provide primary school students with free textbooks.
