Fresh water, clear air, forests, grasslands and other environmental resources provide the foundation for long-term social and economic development. The World Bank is assisting Azerbaijan implement its National Environmental Action Plan. It is also helping the country implement activities to save the Caspian sturgeon, clean-up polluted areas, and safely dispose of hazardous waste.
