Fresh water, clear air, forests, grasslands and other environmental resources provide the foundation for long-term social and economic development. The World Bank is helping Moldova implement its national strategy for biodiversity conservation. It is also assisting environmental agencies enforce regulations to protect the environment and improve coordination. A World Bank-supported project will also help Moldova restore 14,500 hectares of degraded agricultural land.
