Poland
was among the 45 countries which first established the International
Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD), known as the World
Bank, in October 1944. It withdrew in 1950 and rejoined in 1986,
after a hiatus of 36 years. The World Bank started lending operations
in the country in 1990 and, since then, has committed US$5.4 billion
for 37 operations. |
