The World Bank and other donors have helped restore the municipal solid waste management system in Tashkent. This has helped reduce the incidence of some diseases and created over 1,000 jobs. When the project started, only a third of residents were satisfied with the quality of the city’s waste management services. Most recent surveys show that the number of satisfied customers has more than doubled.
