The World Bank is supporting improvements in the management of international waters in the Aral Sea Basin. It is also helping reduce the negative impact of the disaster on the environment. World Bank advice has helped formulate water and salt management policies, improve reservoir and dam management, and enhance monitoring of transboundary water flows. It is also supporting the protection of vulnerable and unique biological communities in the West Tien Shan Range of Central Asia.
